Head of Finance - Milan
Join indigo.ai as Head of Finance and shape the future of Italy's leading AI platform with sharp insights and financial mastery. Let’s scale, together! 🌍💸
If you are here, it is because you know that we are looking for a Head of Finance.
indigo.ai is the leading platform in Italy for building next-generation AI Agents that transform the way companies communicate with their customers. Since 2016, we’ve been helping enterprises in industries such as finance, insurance, utilities, retail, and e-commerce to evolve their Customer Experience through conversational AI 🪄 We don’t just “sell software”: we enable a shift in how organizations interact with people, automating millions of conversations every year, reducing operational costs, improving conversion rates, and creating more personalized, scalable, and compliant customer journeys.
Now we are on a mission to scale this technology globally. To do so, we are looking for a Head of Finance to support our CEO in defining and leading the company’s financial strategy, ensuring scalability, compliance, and operational excellence..
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a driven and experienced Head of Finance to help indigo.ai scale with robust and forward-looking financial leadership. This role will report directly to the CEO, playing a central role in shaping financial strategy, supporting investor relations, and ensuring operational control as we enter new phases of growth. You will lead all financial functions - planning, control, administration, and fundraising - and collaborate across departments to enable data-informed decisions. As the business grows, this position could evolve into a CFO role with expanded strategic responsibilities.
We are looking for someone who combines strategic thinking and business partnering with a strong hands-on attitude: you’ll need to roll up your sleeves, dive into operations when necessary, and be fully accountable for both the high-level vision and its execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and lead financial strategy and planning across 12-36 months, including multi-scenario financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and stress testing to support data-driven strategic decisions;
- Drive and monitor SaaS metrics (MRR/ARR, churn, LTV, CAC), integrating them into strategic and operational decisions;
 Establish and track key financial KPIs, ensuring consistent reporting to leadership and investors;
- Oversee investor relations: prepare pitch materials, support due diligence, and participate in board presentations;
- Support the CEO in defining capital allocation strategy and financing options (equity, debt, or hybrid), ensuring sustainable growth and investor alignment;
 Partner cross-functionally with all teams to align financial planning with business goals and growth strategy;
- Manage liquidity and cash flow, ensuring financial compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations;
- Oversee accounting, tax compliance, and financial consolidation across entities, ensuring timely statutory filings and coordination with external consultants;
- Coordinate transfer pricing policies and intercompany transactions among international subsidiaries, ensuring compliance and fiscal efficiency;
- Lead the evolution of finance systems and processes, including ERP upgrades and automation initiatives;
- Supervise budgeting cycles and ensure timely and accurate monthly/quarterly reporting;
- Support M&A activities through financial analysis, due diligence, and post-deal integration.
You will need:
- 7-10+ years of experience in finance roles, preferably in fast-growing, complex environments or scale-ups;
- Proven management of at least €5M in company liquidity;
- Strong background in financial planning, analysis, and KPI-driven reporting;
- Experience supporting investment rounds (Series A/B), including investor reporting and due diligence;
- Strong command of SaaS metrics and unit economics;
- Experience managing multi-entity, multi-currency financial structures and consolidated reporting - experience with Brazil and Spain is a strong plus;
- Proven experience managing international tax compliance and transfer pricing across multiple jurisdictions;
- Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, financial modeling, dashboards);
- Familiarity with ERP systems and finance process automation;
- Hands-on approach to accounting and administration, with high attention to operational details;
- High integrity and confidentiality in handling strategic and sensitive information;
- Degree in Economics, Management Engineering, or related fields;
- Fluent in English (especially for international investor communications).
We will really like (but they are not required):
- Knowledge of SQL or BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau);
- Experience with M&A processes (valuation, due diligence, integration);
- Exposure to cloud-based ERP tools;
- Previous experience in digitalizing finance operations and workflows;
- Familiarity with cash flow management tools (e.g. Agicap);
- Experience managing corporate expense systems and company cards (e.g. WithLess);
- Previous experience presenting directly in investor meetings or board rooms.
Our values:
At indigo.ai we prize Vision (curiosity and courage to challenge the status quo), Connection (empathy, candor, and trust), Responsibility (ownership, reliability, and follow-through), and Excellence (the habit of raising the bar and refining until it’s right). If you naturally think ahead, build strong relationships, take accountability, and obsess over the quality of what you deliver, we’re probably a great match.
